Rufus rocks the bowl

Jason and I got tickets a while back, right after I'd decided to move to LA, to go see Rufus Wainwright interpret and restage Judy Garland's famous Hollywood Bowl concert
(as he has done for her Carnegie Hall concert, the Palladium and others). The concert was tonight and needless to say, it was amazing; not only Rufus' performance which was impressive, but also the whole scene: a bright beautiful moon, family members suppporting him, Debbie Reynolds in the front row, and Lorna Luft performing with him. Nothing gayer has happened in my life I don't think.

To top it off, I had my first legitimate celebrity sighting: Michael McDonald from Mad TV was sitting a row behind us and several seats down.

Speaking of Judy Garland, this week over at The Judy Garland Experience they are featuring Judy's complete concert from August 23, 1967. The very same concert where Miss Joan Crawford pulled herself up onto the stage to bask in some of Judy's audience love. They are also featuring the episode of Good News where Joan tries to sing with Judy! And if that isn't enough Joan Crawford there are also highlights from her 1973 appearance at Town Hall.
Wait, that's not all. Along with other Judy audio tidbits there is also a rare concert from Lee Wiley, and ultra rare tracks from the long forgotten voacalist Beverly Kenney.
If you haven't become a member of The Judy Garland Experience yet, don't you think it's about time?

Rufus is a third rate lounge act that made a fool of himself. Could not hit one note.
